In Maputo, Mozambique, this new education campus needed a multi-purpose hall capable of hosting a wide range of campus activities — and the brief set out to make it not just the city's but the wider region's most modern, high-specification conference venue.

The client's request was for a genuinely turnkey delivery: complete design development, covering both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the brief, with every element of the interior specified and designed by Acoustic Design.

Working with local teams on the ground, the full turnkey scope — from design through to installation — was completed in a strikingly short 40-day programme. Acoustic timber panelling in a modern geometric diamond form was used across the ceiling and wall cladding, delivering both a distinctive aesthetic and high-quality acoustic performance, while the room's architectural acoustics were matched with a high-efficiency professional sound system tuned for the hall's multi-purpose use.

The result is a hall that performs to an A-grade standard in both its visual character and its technical capacity — a genuinely regional benchmark achieved on an unusually fast programme.
